not been the best week ever

It has not been the best week ever. There was a funeral, my breakfast guy at the Nip N Tuck went to the hospital to get a stint put in, and my large project for the year that I am 12 weeks into was canceled quickly and swiftly in an early morning conversation. All three took place yesterday.

This morning, in the wake of these affairs, I sat at the Nip N Tuck eating my English muffin. Another person came in the door. Becky behind the counter explained once again that he is doing well and will be home this afternoon. The patrons reply was a quick change in topic to him, and how he once had something medical done. It was a pattern that had taken place all morning. Patron inquires how he was, she would explain the situation, and the patron in turn would talk about themselves.

The last of my apologies was sent about an hour ago, I hope. Everyone has been notified of the refunds, reimbursements, and the gratitude we have for participating – for the promise of participating – in our little thing.

With each regret I hear from a peer or passerby I thank them before they explain I am not alone and that something like this has happened to them at one time. But I could care less about them. I am selfish and self-centered today with a remaining twinge of anger mixed in.
